Travel Fee Honoraria

The Travel Fee Honoraria Program is intended to assist organizations such as historical societies, museums, historical commissions, and preservation groups in their ongoing stewardship of the vernacular built environment. This program provides funds to help underwrite the travel costs of bringing in expert scholars to assist in the assessment, documentation or interpretation of these resources. Travel, meals, and lodging may be covered up to $500 per instance. Both the project applicant organization and the visiting expert must be VAF members. Recipients of the Travel Fee award are requested to submit a report of their findings for publication in the Vernacular Architecture Newsletter.

Please especially alert your local organizations of the availability of these funds where an "outside expert" might provide a critical boost to their ongoing efforts.
